The motion capture for "Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow" was used to populate the streets of New York, fill a zeppellin hanger with workers, and double the main actors in wide shots. Wire hareness work was done for the police in the New York sequences. The actor would run into the motion capture volume and then a wire rig would lift him fifteen feet in the air, spinning him around the whole time and then dropping him to the ground.
"In one day at Motion Analysis we managed to populate all of New York City, two military bases, as well as quite a bit of stunt work. I was surprised we got through it all in a day", said Darin Hollings, Visual Effects Supervisor.
